The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is committed to increasing student achievement through the School Improvement Process. School Improvement, shared-decision making, creation of school leadership teams, and curriculum redesign require knowledge, skills and attitudes about both process and content.
To facilitate the school improvement process, School Improvement Leadership Teams (SILT) have been formed at all levels in DoDEA (school, district, area and headquarters).
Plans for continuous curriculum appraisal and improvement are initiated and implemented by the staff in conjunction with the perceived needs of the school. Participation is expected by all staff members, and the direction of the SIP is determined at the local school based on stated goals and benchmarks developed by DoDEA.
