Archeological Dig - November 2008
While preparing to build new housing on Lakenheath Air Force Base signs of an ancient burial mound began to appear. The Archaeological Service of the Suffolk County Council was called in and confirmed that a Bronze Age burial mound was underfoot. The archeologists invited the students from Liberty to observe them excavating the 4000 year-old burial site. We were not only amazed by these remains, which had not seen the light of day for 4000 years, but also by the painstaking precision with which these archeologists worked. Here's what they showed us. |
